BSI Growing Commitment to Southern Europe

Press release - 26 January 2011

LONDON, UK – Just a few weeks into the New Year, and BSI’s resolution to increase its global reach has set a promising precedent. Having recently expanded its presence in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, BSI has just appointed a Managing Director for Southern Europe to be based in Italy.

“BSI’s increasing investment in Italy through its recent acquisition of BSS Italia and this new appointment has laid the foundation for a growing commitment to Southern Europe,” says Rob Wallis, BSI Managing Director – EMEA. “With major economies in the EU experiencing difficult trading conditions, one of BSI’s key objectives is to help consumers save money, reduce risks, and continually improve their competitiveness and customer service. We believe this is best achieved through the provision of local services to clients in their regions.”

At the close of 2010, BSI acquired the auditing and certification portfolio from BS Services Italia S.r.l (BSS), expanding its presence in Italy. Furthermore, BSI has just appointed Luigi Brusamolino as head of Southern Europe. Luigi has joined BSI from Symantec, where he was Vice President of their global services organisation in EMEA, delivering consulting services, training, managed services and technical support services.

“This appointment is a further progression of changes made to BSI’s EMEA organisation, with an aim to ensure faster growth and a stronger local presence for our clients,” continues Wallis. “With our growing expertise and global capacity, the products and services we deliver continue to prove valuable to clients across the globe.”

2010 marked a year of expansion for BSI, in which BSI secured not only the acquisition of BSS Italia, but also that of Systems Management Indonesia (SMI). Earlier in the year, BSI set up offices in Qatar, to work with Qatar Petroleum, and in Saudi Arabia, to verify the certification of medical devices.
